The Institute of Chemistry is the only institute in Turkmenistan that conducts research in the field of chemistry. The aim of the institute is to find solutions for the scientific and technical problems dealing with the physical and chemical basis of the integrated processing of the country’s mineral, hydromineral and hydrocarbon raw materials.

Scientists of Turkmenistan have long been conducting research work to identify new sources and determine reserves of raw materials of the country, such as hydrocarbons, minerals and hydrominerals. They are closely engaged in the establishment of the physical, chemical properties and chemical compositions of these valuable natural wealth. As a result of the work carried out, a large amount of research and information material has been accumulated. Currently these invaluable materials are used by professionals involved in chemistry and chemical technology.

All departments and laboratories of the Institute of Chemistry, from January 1, 2020, completely was transmitted to self-financing.
